Storyboard
The Future Funk style fits with the optimistic tone. The technological elements of Vaporwave represent
the life as a digital graphic designer.
A refined storyboard is essential for a team motion project. Since I am going solo, I was more flexible with final shapes and fonts that I would create in After Effects.
As a very loose sketcher, I use neatly spaced thumbnails so my ideas have more clarity. I listen to the song for this project on repeat while sketching.
Animation
Since time isn't an issue, I found myself experimenting with ideas and effects in After Effects. I always find a finishing touch I never considered during the Storyboarding phase.
Refinements
When a motion project is around 75% I export it and rewatch the piece. I make a list of what needs to be changed. This is also a great time to take a short break and ask someone else for feedback.
Motion can be tricky. Sometimes it
is necessary to return to thumbnail sketching to rethink an effect or consider a more suitable transition.
